POEMS

He Builds A Home

He builds a home

The way my grandma made soupChaos with wondrous results

Tools, tools everywhere

For every purpose under heaven

Under roof and above

A home is built

With toil and love

Shouts of frustration

And smiles of satisfaction

Beautiful imperfections

That make you feel whole

A home is built

From deep in his soul.

IF YOU WERE HERE*

Grandma, there’s a soft warm breeze

Crickets are chirping

Fish are occasionally jumping

A bald eagle just flew over landing on a tall, barren tree

If you were here; this is what you would see.

A black and white double-decker dragonfly,

Followed by a butterfly and bee

If you were here that’s what you would see.

I make believe we are sitting side by side

In cushy lounge chairs

Along the pine-shaded bank of our peaceful little lake

We are enjoying the view and each other’s company

We are comfortable in each other’s silence

And soaking it all in;

If you were here

I’d take you on a calm, misty canoe rides

The full moon would rise over the lake

You would see its reflection in the silver blue light.

If you were here

I would stock up on coffee ice cream, new operas and old movies

I would give you a tour of the log home that Tim built

You would smell fresh cut logs and hot coffee

And be greeted by wild turkeys, deer and chipmunks.

This is what you would see; if you were here.

We would take long naps, sing a few songs and laugh until we pee

If you were here; this is how it would be

I wish you were here.

Love, Leah

SUN SHADOWS**

It was an indecisive day.

Cloudy with occasional shadows of sun spotlighting here and there.

The temperature was a perfect 71.3

Sucking fresh summer cherries off their pits

Popping blueberries from a bag.

Wearing only a faded beach frock and worn-out flip flops.

Today is a day to cherish.

Hold it with both hands and hope for more like these.

Book in left hand; coffee cup in right

Slowly sip and soak-up the sun shadows

As they briefly pass by.

** This poem was written on the deck of the cabin

But just imagine if you added some great visuals or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and video clips, this website could certainly be one of the most beneficial in its niche. Fantastic blog!

Thank-you for your feedback. I never considered my web site as a blog just a place where guests can share their experiences, photos and vidos of their visit and future guests can see how special Buckhorn Lake Cabin is. There’s loads of photos (visuals) throughout the site, but I do not have a digetal video camera. Perhaps someday. This is an open invitation to past guests. Feel free to share your creative sparks that were generated as a result of being at the cabin-photos, videos, poems, stories, thoughts etc.

      Take care, Leah

  13. What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
