If you want to submit a photo, email it to <a href=\"mailto:leahdobkin@aol.com\">leahdobkin@aol.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POEMS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>He Builds A Home<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>He builds a home<\/p>\n<p>The way my grandma made soupChaos with wondrous results<\/p>\n<p>Tools, tools everywhere<\/p>\n<p>For every purpose under heaven<\/p>\n<p>Under roof and above<\/p>\n<p>A home is built<\/p>\n<p>With toil and love<\/p>\n<p>Shouts of frustration<\/p>\n<p>And smiles of satisfaction<\/p>\n<p>Beautiful imperfections<\/p>\n<p>That make you feel whole<\/p>\n<p>A home is built<\/p>\n<p>From deep in his soul.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>IF YOU WERE HERE*<\/strong><\/span><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Grandma, there\u2019s a soft warm breeze<\/p>\n<p>Crickets are chirping<\/p>\n<p>Fish are occasionally jumping<\/p>\n<p>A bald eagle just flew over landing on a tall, barren tree<\/p>\n<p>If you were here; this is what you would see.<\/p>\n<p>A black and white double-decker dragonfly,<\/p>\n<p>Followed by a butterfly and bee<\/p>\n<p>If you were here that\u2019s what you would see.<\/p>\n<p>I make believe we are sitting side by side<\/p>\n<p>In cushy lounge chairs<\/p>\n<p>Along the pine-shaded bank of our peaceful little lake<\/p>\n<p>We are enjoying the view and each other\u2019s company<\/p>\n<p>We are comfortable in each other\u2019s silence<\/p>\n<p>And soaking it all in;<\/p>\n<p>If you were here<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d take you on a calm, misty canoe rides<\/p>\n<p>The full moon would rise over the lake<\/p>\n<p>You would see its reflection in the silver blue light.<\/p>\n<p>If you were here<\/p>\n<p>I would stock up on coffee ice cream, new operas and old movies<\/p>\n<p>I would give you a tour of the log home that Tim built<\/p>\n<p>You would smell fresh cut logs and hot coffee<\/p>\n<p>And be greeted by wild turkeys, deer and chipmunks.<\/p>\n<p>This is what you would see; if you were here.<\/p>\n<p>We would take long naps, sing a few songs and laugh until we pee<\/p>\n<p>If you were here; this is how it would be<\/p>\n<p>I wish you were here.<\/p>\n<p>Love, Leah<\/p>\n<p>*My grandmother, Ruth Jensky, was in hospice at the time this poem was written.\u00a0 She passed away at 96\u00a0 years-young in 2009<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>SUN SHADOWS**<\/strong><\/span><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was an indecisive day.<\/p>\n<p>Cloudy with occasional shadows of sun spotlighting here and there.<\/p>\n<p>The temperature was a perfect 71.3<\/p>\n<p>Sucking fresh summer cherries off their pits<\/p>\n<p>Popping blueberries from a bag.<\/p>\n<p>Wearing only a faded beach frock and worn-out flip flops.<\/p>\n<p>Today is a day to cherish.<\/p>\n<p>Hold it with both hands and hope for more like these.<\/p>\n<p>Book in left hand; coffee cup in right<\/p>\n<p>Slowly sip and soak-up the sun shadows<\/p>\n<p>As they briefly pass by.<\/p>\n<p><strong>** This poem was written on the deck of the cabin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ARTICLES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> Log Cabin Chic Lures New Upscale Settlers<\/strong><br \/>\nThese aren&#8217;t your ancestors&#8217; log cabins.
